About Us

Dales Angus is located in Merriwa – a town in New South Wales’ Upper Hunter Shire, approximately forty-five minutes from Scone.

Situated in the shadow of the Liverpool Ranges on 10,000 acres of undulating pasture, selected crops, and the dark, rich basalt soil of the Gumman Valley, our farm provides an ideal environment in which to breed and raise superior quality Angus.

Formed in 1958, when members of the AB&B Bettington partnership dissolved and divided their Coolie Property, Dales is steeped in heritage. Here, the famously successful Bettingtons accumulated and developed the most exceptional farming and grazing properties in the Merriwa district.

Dales remained in the care of the Bettington family until 2015, when we – the Murrays – bought it. Originally established as some of the best sheep grazing country in the nation, our district is now primarily devoted to cattle grazing.

Our People

As owners, we believe that investment in agriculture to achieve continuous improvement in know-how, facilities and livestock quality can only work through our people. To run Dales as expertly as possible, we depend on the deep, farming experience of our manager, Elliot McKinnon, his wife Natasha, and their son Corey.

With our team, we aim to develop superior bloodlines and maintain Dales for stability of breeding stock. We do this by giving our team the right support and encouraging a safe, trustworthy, learning environment in which to work.

This approach ensures our reputation for reliability in providing stud cattle to the industry, and high-quality beef to discerning end customers.
